Left Behind: Forgotten Americans Abandoned in Afghanistan
Written and Narrated by Ethan Hay
The world is in chaos as it watches Afghanistan fall into the hands of the Taliban. As the region crumbles, a question is being asked. How many Americans are still trapped in the Graveyard of Empires? When Pentagon Press Secretary, Former Rear Admiral John Kirby, (1) was asked this question, he had a very simple answer, ‘I don’t know.’ (2) That answer was further amplified by White House Communications Director, Kate Bedingfield, (3) who said: “We don’t have a precise number. What we’re doing is working to identify how many Americans are there.” Former Vice President Biden has said that there could be as many as ten to fifteen thousand Americans still there. Then there is the case of not (4) being able to know how many Americans and Afghani’s are being flown out.
Another question that needs answering is what is being done to help these Americans. The Secretary of Defense, former four-star general Lloyd Austin, when asked whether the military is being sent out to gather these Americans said this: “We don’t have the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people.” (5) He and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley then went on to say that the Defense Department had planned for several contingencies, and that they had not expected Afghanistan to fall in eleven days. One of the things that stands out amongst others is when the Defense Secretary said the following:
“Well we’re going to do everything we can to continue to try to deconflict and create passageways for them to get to the airfield. I don’t have the capability to go out and extend operations currently into Kabul. And where do you take that? I mean, how far can you extend into Kabul, you know, and how long does it take to flow those forces in to be able to do that?”
A reporter then said, ‘so it sounds like you’re saying this depends on diplomacy with the Taliban, that’s it. That’s our only option is getting them to agree to do this.’ The Secretary had no response to that and General Milley (6) had to step in.
Then there’s good old Joe Biden, the former Vice President. He stayed around for a bit and answered questions this time. It didn’t go well. In an interview with George Stephanopoulos, he was asked about the evacuation process, the photos of people crammed into the back of a C-17, and the videos of people that had clung to the landing gears of the plane falling to their deaths were mentioned. Biden (7) callously responded that those events and videos had happened ‘four days ago.’ The old man then also proceeded to defend the pullout by saying that Afghanistan would have collapsed anyway. Contradicting his July 8th (8) statement saying that it was ‘highly unlikely’ that the Taliban would retake control of the country. He then at a later press conference contradicted his own defense department by saying the administration would ‘use every resource necessary to carry out the mission at hand and bring to safety American citizens and our Afghan allies.’ (9)
The handling of this crisis has also dealt a devastating blow to Biden’s approval ratings. It doesn’t exactly scream confidence when the man was on and remained on vacation (10) till August 11th, only to come back, deliver a speech, go back on vacation, and come back again. He must be dealing with some severe whiplash. If he isn’t, then the American people are. According to a poll taken by Rasmussen Reports, (11) 43% of likely voters would vote for Trump, 37% for Biden, and 14% would vote for another candidate. Rasmussen (12) also reports that Biden has a 46% approval, and 53% disapprove. There are calls for him to resign, from the likes of Missouri Republican Senator, Josh Hawley. (13) South Carolina Senator, Lindsey Graham, (14) has actually started talking about impeachment, and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (15) has actually filed articles of impeachment.
Osama Bin-Laden, (16) the deceased leader of al-Qaeda, was one of the first people to endorse Joe Biden for President. He wanted Biden in office because in a 2010 letter he said that ‘Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the US into a crisis.’ Although Bin-Laden is a horrible human being, he at least was intelligent enough to see Biden for who he is. An incompetent, career politician, and sellout who has never actually done anything other than suckle at the government tit. He needs to resign, Kamala Harris needs to resign, and his entire National Security team needs to resign. The only thing that they are doing right is embarrassing the American people, and the people are furious about it.
